New Boy Bergwijn on Target Tottenham Spanks Ten-man Manchester City

Tottenham overcame a 10-man Manchester City 2-0 in a league match played at the Tottenham Hotspurs stadium on Sunday evening.

Despite being the better side for the better part of the match, City found themselves a man down at the hour mark after Zinchenko was sent off.

Spurs capitalized to score two goals through Steven Bergwijn and Son Heung-min to pick three precious points.

The first chance of the match went Tottenham’s way in the 7th minute but with Delle Ali in a prime position, he was stopped by the offside flag.

City got two chances moments later through Kevin De Bryune and Sergio Aguero but both players failed to beat Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris.

The pair had chances in the 25th and 27th minutes respectively again but failed to utilize them as City went all out looking to get the opening goal. Lloris in Spurs goal was proving his worth with point blank saves.

Five minutes from time, Man City were awarded a penalty after Serge Aurier fouled Sergio Aguero inside the area.

Ilkay Gundogan stepped forward to take but was denied by Lloris who yet again pulled a superb save. The first half ended barren.

City started the second half equally strongly creating numerous chances. Aguero, Gundogan, Rodri all threw away chances. Spurs barely created any meaningful opportunities.

At the hour mark, a match changing moment titled the game to Tottenham’s favor. Olexandr Zinchenko was given his second Yello card of the match and was subsequently sent off.

Three minutes later, Spurs made the one man advantage count and went ahead through debutant Steven Bergwijn who found the back of the net with a stunning volley after he was set up by Lucas Moura.

Eight minutes later Son Heung-min made it 2-0 via a deflection to put the match beyond City’s reach. Spurs had chances to score more but City did well to limit the damage.
