There Will be no Presidential Election in 2022 Under BBI: Moses Kuria

Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria, on Sunday laid bare the reason why, together with his friends from Deputy President William Ruto’s Tangatanga faction, he was willing to endure all forms of humiliation, in their anti-Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) quest.

Addressing concerns over why the political grouping was so bent on shooting ODM leader Raila Odinga’s BBI efforts down, despite having previously declared their full support for the document, Kuria revealed that the ”Handshakers” were planning to have the BBI report amended, to pave way for their ascension to power, as the new regime after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s exit in 2022.

According to the legislator, one of the planned changes to the BBI report was the abolishment of the presidential election, which, Kuria claimed, would be validated by the fact that it is the presidential position that always leads to poll violence in the country.

Instead, the plan within pro-BBI camp was to have parliamentarians choose who would lead the country, a move that Kuria revealed anti-BBI crusaders were vehemently against since it would be unfair to the Kenyan electorate.

Further, the MP decried plans to increase the number of constituencies in the country to the tune of 0ver 200 new units, and the creation of 12 regional governments, in addition to the 47 counties.

” I am opposed to this. We can not afford 500 constituencies (Which could be 600 MPs after women reps and nominated MPs) even to achieve one man one vote one shilling. We can not trust MPs to determine who will lead this country. This duty has to remain with the 20 Million Kenyan voters,” Kuria cried out in a tell-it-all Facebook post.

” Then we abolish Presidential Election “as it is the only reason Kenyans fight every 5 years,” he added.

The legislator, who was on Saturday roughed up during a BBI rally in Kitui county, asserted that as long as these issues were not forced upon Kenyans, then the Tangatanga camp would have no problem with Uhuru and Raila’s brainchild.

”When we resist these issues we are accused of disrespect. This is where the trouble lies. Now you know,” Kuria concluded.
