Ruto’s Key Ally Reportedly Goes Missing as BBI Rally Proceeds in Kakamega

Mumias East Member of Parliament Benjamin Washiali has reportedly gone missing.

Tanga Tanga leaders on Saturday claimed that the National Assembly Deputy Whip, went missing on Friday night, January 17, just hours to the BBI parallel meeting scheduled to take place at Nabongo grounds in Mumias town.

According to former Sports CS Rashid Echesa, the legislator was abducted from his home.

Speaking to the local media, Echesa gave the government an ultimatum of two hours to tell them the whereabouts of the lawmaker.

“There will be consequences after our deadline expires,” Echesa told the local media.

On his part, former Kakamega Senator Boniface Khalwale claimed that he has received reports that the MP was arrested by the police and is being held in an unknown location.

“I have received reports that Washiali was arrested by the police,” Khalwale said.

He added that the police have denied that they have Washiali in detention.

Taking to Facebook, Gatundu South legislator, Moses Kuria also echoed the same.

“Majority Whip Hon Ben Washiali is missing,” Kuria wrote on Facebook.

Washiali was to join Khalwale and other pro-Ruto leaders in holding a BBI parallel meeting at Nabongo grounds in Mumias.

The two leaders had vowed to go on with their meeting as planned despite its cancellation by police.

“We were the first group to organise our meeting in Mumias. The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting in Bukhungu is solely meant to undermine our meeting,” Washiali said.
