The idea of police acting without any frame work or guidelines monitoring each and every step they make is long over due.
The National police reforms was launched to streamline the working of police in various areas. This action was prompted by the rogue practices which were being carried out by police across the country especially in light with the elections and the violence that erupted afterwards.
How the police acted in such situations raised eyebrows calling for action.
The Kenya Police was ranked among the poorest police forces in the World and this called for a quick reform.
In light with the reforms , the police drafted a set of guidelines that would guide their daily operation. According to the new Examination policy and guidelines each police is required to account for each and every step they take while exercising their mandate.
In addition, this policy will provide the members of the service with a clear understanding of the NPS examination system & guide the uniform administration of examinations while enabling officers to attain nationally recognized police qualifications. – @NPSC_KE Chairperson.

The new guidelines among other set of rules bars the police from engaging in any form of businesses while in their practice.
In order to achieve this requirement, members of the service must be continously evaluated to assess & increase their proficiency in service delivery to members of public.
