The war against extra-judicial killings has recently intensified after the bloody confrontation between villagers and police in Trans Nzoia County that ended up being fatal.
Extra-judicial killings of Kenyans will only end after we have removed the despots from power and transformed the country from top to bottom. Myths and fiction about “bridges” are just that – myths and fiction. #SayNoToUjinga https://t.co/N2oK5JFCFH

Inspector-General Joseph Boinnet has however defended the police killing of civilians in Kwanza, Trans Nzoia County. In a statement on Monday, Mr Boinnet said police opened fire as they were in danger.
He said they acted in self-defence after more than 100 people confronted them.
“The crowd became irate, forcing one of our officers to fire in the air to disperse it but this was to no avail. In the ensuing melee, the suspect, who had already been handcuffed managed to escape,” Charles Wahongo explained in the statement on behalf of the IG. Mr Wahongo is the Director of Communication Services in the National Police Service.
Mr Boinnet said that this prompted the officer to shoot, injuring two men, an event after which he and his colleague fled to the patrol base.
Even so watchdog IPOA has launched investigations, with the promise of action should police be found culpable.
