Women now vouch for paid ‘menstrual leave’

Women from different parts of the globe are now in support of paid ‘menstrual leave’  saying that menstrual pain is the worst pain to experience.

Although this may seem so unrelatable to people who have never experienced this pain, but there are many stories of pain around that month.

This paid menstrual leave debate was triggered after some countries implemented that policy for the sake of women.

Personally, my period pain would make me cry uncontrollably like a baby and the struggle to ease the pain would take the effort of a ‘village’

Well not a village but I mean it was either by pain killers or my caring mom giving me a warm water tummy massage till it gets better.

When I was away from home, I could feel as if no one could really understand that pain and it was so frustrating to explain to those who would look at me and feel sorry.

It got worse when I had to go for pain relieving  injections  sometimes and embarrassing to narrate to my brothers what I was going through.

On that period of the month all you want it to remain unbothered and have a good rest and sometimes.

One lady on twitter;Kelly Given narrated her pain as she backed up the ‘menstrual leave policy’ which kicked off in Italy last year and has since been effective.

“I can confirm having rolled around my livingroom floor in absolute agony for the last 3 hours that THIS is a policy worth making a fuss about. I can’t stress how unbearable and intense the pain is. This is a monthly reality for so many women, it NEEDS to be better understood.” reads tweet

In November 16th 2017 Italy became the  first  European country to give women paid period leave but of course only those who are medically proven to  have the condition of severe pain during the menstrual period.

Therefore no lady can get a free pass and take advantage of the policy. With such a policy, this could be the wake of ladies who suffer from the monthly menstrual pain to have a smooth ride.

Would you want such a policy to be implemented in Kenya? Share your thoughts.
