Mikel looks to prove Super Eagles doubters wrong

Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mike has revealed that the team is keen to show what they are made of when the World Cup kickoff in Russia.

Many pundits have expressed doubt over the team’s ability to reach the knockout stages of the competition due to the presence of Argentina and Croatia in their group but the former Chelsea star is of the opinion that the team would rise to the challenge in Russia.

“When people say you can’t do something, you want to prove them wrong. We have no pressure. We want to do exactly what we want to do. We put pressure on ourselves to do well because we want to do well.

“Yes, it’s a group of death, a very difficult group. But it was the same thing in the qualifiers. We were in a very difficult group but we qualified and topped the group.

“So we can use the same motivation like we did in the qualifiers. Every game counts. We want to start the game on Saturday in a positive way. If we get a good result, we can build on that and hopefully qualify from the group,” Mikel said.
