They say in politics, there are no permanent Friends or Enemies only permanent Interests! After years of political antagonism and crossfires, DP William Ruto has seemingly changed his tune after declaring that he was ready to work hand in hand with Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Saturday in Machakos during a fundraiser in aid of Africa Inland Church (AIC) Katisaa, Ruto stunned many when he said that he was open to the idea of working with Raila Odinga for the betterment of all Kenyans.
“We must harmonise our politics so that we create synergy and drive the transformation of Kenya together as the people of this great Nation. This is why I’m ready to work with my brother Raila Odinga if that is what it will take. We are a people and we cannot move forward with politics of hate and divisions,” said Ruto.
Ruto maintained that President Kenyatta’s move to work with Raila Odinga was good because it ensures that nobody derails the country’s developments. Ruto added that the transformation of the country cannot wait for those quarreling politically.
His sentiments were echoed by Victor Munyaka ( MP Machakos Town) who observed that the country’s unity was paramount ahead of 2022. Munyaka also told off those opposing church fundraisings telling them to instead concentrate on helping President Kenyattain achieving his top 4 agenda.

Even though this sudden change of heart cannot be explained, it is believed this is a tactical move by the DP to ensure he has future political insurance especially after he was suggestively left out of the 2018 handshake between ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to political analysts, Ruto might have seen how much the odds are turning against him in government and working with Raila Odinga was his next move to ease too much pressure mounting on his ambitions.
Over the last 10 years, William Ruto has been at constant loggerheads with the ODM leader and most recently, the war on corruption has put the two leaders further adrift. While Raila Odinga has been constantly supporting the war on graft, DP Ruto believes it is a political witch hunt targeted at him.
Ruto’s sentiments came just some few hours after Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen who is Ruto’s close confidant welcomed Ekuru Aukot’s Punguza Mizigo Initiative urging all Kenyans to support it since it will ensure that Kenyans are relieved of the over-representation luggage they have been bearing.
Among those leaders who accompanied Ruto to Machakos included; Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town), Charles Nguna (Mwingi West) Rachel Nyamai(Kitui South), Flabian Muli (Kangundo), George Sunkuyia (Kajiando West), Vincent Musyoka ( Mwala) and Eldamaravin’s Moses Lesonet.
