Raila Odinga, Tim Wanyonyi Donate Chairs to Nairobi Churches

Westlands Member of Parliament (MP) Tim Wanyonyi has said he is ODM leader Raila Odinga’s messenger in Nairobi politics.

He was speaking on Thursday at his office while he handed over at least 1000 chairs to 55 churches.

Mr Odinga, in November, had promised to donate the chairs when he met the clergy, at an event where he also apologised for asking Mr Wanyonyi to drop his 2022 Nairobi gubernatorial ambition.

The event was attended by among others former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris and other top ODM leaders

“Today I am a messenger accomplishing the promise made by Baba Raila Odinga when he met the Nairobi Clergy in Westlands last month,” Wanyonyi said.

Wanyonyi said that it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that church congregants are comfortable.

“We are doing this to enhance the capacity of the church to preach the gospel to all places,” said Wanyonyi.

The soft spoken MP expressed his optimism about the cost of living will ease in the coming year.

“We have a lot of economic problems but with prayers, patience and resilience the hard times will pass. Tomorrow will be better than today,” he said.

He wished Kenyans and Nairobians a happy festive season while urging careful driving.

On their part, the clergy thanked Raila Odinga and Tim Wanyonyi for the donations.

“On behalf of the churches we thank Raila Odinga for living up to his promise to our churches,” Pastor Joab Masinde said.
