Arsenal Eyeing World Cup Winner

Arsenal has reportedly opened talks with Bayern Munich over Jerome Boateng’s transfer during the January transfer window according to reports in Germany.

The Gunners coach Mikel Arteta is keen on bolstering his central defense in January after Calum Chambers picked an injury during last week’s match against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium. The Englishman is expected to be out of action for up to nine months.

Boateng is out of favor at Bayern and the German giants are willing to let go of the former Manchester City man this January with a host of clubs keen on signing the central defender.

The 31-year old will attract a fee of around 12 million pounds but the Gunners will be more interested in signing him on loan rather than splashing the cash as Arteta looks to solidify his defense that has been soaking in goals easily since the start of the season.

Boating is said to be keen on a move with his position at Bayern under threat from Benjamin Pavard and David Alaba who are primarily fullbacks but have been featuring as central defenders this season.

Another defender on Arsenal radar is Dayot Upamecano who turns out for Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig. The 21-year old Frenchman will, however, command a huge 80 million pounds, a fee the Gunners are not willing to part with.
