A total of 17 goals were scored in the Kenya Premier League on Thursday in what was the highest-scoring day in the league this season.
Six of the goals came at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani where Kariobangi Sharks were hosting Ulinzi Stars. Sharks, fresh from signing a new sponsorship deal with betting firm Betway, lost their first bet in a 4-2 thrashing.
Oscar Wamalwa helped himself to a double for the soldiers who are now second on the log with 19 points. Sharks are still looking for their second win this season, they remain in the relegation playoff spot with 7 points.
Meanwhile, Tusker FC came from behind salvage a point against a hungry Western Stima side. All four goals came in the space of a crazy ten-minute spell in the second half.
Timothy Otieno equalized two minutes after Stima had taken the lead in the 74th minute. Henry Onyango then put the visitors ahead but the Brewers replied four minutes later through Humphrey Mieno.
Sticking with quickfire goals, AFC Leopards visit to last seasons runners up Bandari produced two goals in a single minute!
Jeffery Owiti had put Leopards ahead from a smart Makwatta pass but Bandari pulled level in the 10th minute. Before the crowd at the Mbaraki Stadium had finished celebrating, Leopards went ahead after good work from Whyvone Isuza saw Vincent Oburu fire the ball into the net.
Cliff Kasuti ensured the points would be shared with a smart finish just before halftime.
Finally, Gor Mahia scored three without reply as they comfortably saw off Kakamega Homeboyz at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu. Charles Momanyi and Francis Afriyie were on the scoresheet for the defending champions while the third was an own goal.
Steven Pollack’s side remains top of the log with 21 points and two games in hand.
