Zlatan Ibrahimovic has taken a thinly veiled swipe at LA Galaxy fans after confirming that he is leaving the club after a year in the Major Soccer League (MLS).

The 38-year old has decided to exit the American league after a year where he had become the league’s main attraction. He has been linked with returns to AC Milan or Manchester United and the burly forward, as has been the norm over the years is expected to announce his new home soon.

The striker, who has played for Juventus, AC Milan, Barcelona, Inter Milan, PSG, Manchester United among other clubs took to social media on Wednesday night to announce that he was leaving the club. And as expected, he completed his statement controversially but asking LA Galaxy fans to go back to baseball now that he has left.

“I came, I saw, I conquered. Thank you @lagalaxy for making me feel alive again. To the Galaxy fans – you wanted Zlatan, I gave you Zlatan. You are welcome. The story continues…Now go back to watch baseball,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, LA Galaxy president, Chris Klein has thanked the forward for the positive influence he has had on the team.

“We would like to thank Zlatan for his contributions to the LA Galaxy and Major League Soccer. Since his arrival in 2018, Zlatan has positively influenced the sport of soccer in Los Angeles. We are grateful for his work ethic and passion. We thank Zlatan for his professionalism and immeasurable impact on the Los Angeles community and the soccer community in North America as a whole,” he said.
