Chaos Rock City Hall Again as Police Engage Angry MCAs

Chaos has once again rocked Nairobi County Assembly after  MCAs allied to embattled Majority Leader Hassan Guyo lobbed teargas at a faction that was seeking to oust him.

The fracas started when a section of MCAs allied to county speaker Beatrice Elachi forcefully tried to eject Guyo from his office before his allies joined in to rescue him.

Police were forced to join in to restore order as MCAs continued exchanging blows. All MCAs and county staff have been ordered to vacate the building.

The county lawmakers allied to Speaker Elachi last week staged a coup, replacing Guyo with Dandora III MCA Charles Thuo.

They also replaced Minority Whip Waithera Chege by nominated MCA June Ndegwa.

This is not the first time the hall is experiencing such chaos. A week ago, there was a similar drama at the assembly after rival MCAs clashed over an impeachment motion of embattled Speaker Elachi.

Chaos broke shortly after MCAs supporting the new impeachment motion were disrupted by their counterparts while addressing the media.

MCAs from both ODM and Jubilee supporting Elachi have firmly opposed any impeachment motion of the speaker which has led to a series of chaos and fracas at the assembly.
