Mashemeji Derby: The Stats Ahead Of Sundays Showdown

This season’s first Mashemeji derby pitting eternal rivals Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards will be played on Sunday, November 10 at the Moi International Sports Center starting at 3 PM.

Both teams will head into the match level on 15 points though Gor Mahia has played two matches less. the winner of the duel could go top of the table should Tusker FC fail to beat KCB on Saturday.

AFC Leopards will be buoyed by the fact that they have the best defensive record in the league currently having conceded just 3 goals so far and kept three cheatsheets which is also the leagues best. Gor Mahia, on the other hand, has conceded four goals in their first six league matches.

John Makwatta Makwatta is the danger man for the Leopards having contributed half of the ten goals that the team has scored in the league. His five goals make him the highest scorer in the league alongside Wazito Fc hitman Elvis Rupia.

Kenneth Muguna has found the net three times for Gor Mahia and is the player with the most goals for the team that has 11 strikes to their name so far this season.

Both teams have tasted defeat just once this season with Cassa Mbungos side losing their first league assignment to Kakamega Homeboyz while Gor Mahia’s loss came in their last match against Mathare United on Wednesday.

The head to head record does not favor AFC Leopards who have beaten Gor Mahia just once in their last 10 meetings with the defending Champions winning eight while one ended in a stalemate.
