Ruto Blasts Raila for Unleashing ‘Terrorists’ in Kibra By-election

Deputy President William Ruto is not yet over with the Kibra by-election.

A day after his candidate McDonald Mariga ‘succumbed’ to a humiliating defeat from ODM candidate Bernard Imran Okoth, the DP on Saturday launched an online attack against the Orange party and its leader Raila Odinga.

Deputy President William Ruto accuses ODM leader of unleashing violence during the Kibra by-election.

While taking to twitter to respond to a newspaper reporting by the Star newspaper, the DP said the ODM party deployed no strategy in the Kibra by-election other than violence.

“The ONLY strategy and structure Tinga’s party had which largely succeeded was, violence, chaos, mayhem & terror meted out by organized baba’s militia the same instruments used by terrorist organizations including outlawed groups. How sad they have learnt nothing from handshake!” tweeted the DP.

In the newspaper reporting, the tabloid had reported that the ODM leader planted spies in Ruto Kibra campaign team.

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale in Kibra after confrontation ensued between him and Kibra residents.

The spies, as reported, kept Raila abreast with Jubilee’s strategy and plan of action enabling the Orange party to monitor and contain every move.

The remarks come a day after DP Ruto congratulated the ODM candidate for emerging victorious in the by-election.

In his message, Ruto noted that the Jubilee party had made a tremendous improvement in its performance compared to 2017.

The DP said their performance in the by-election served the Orange Party a proper notice.

In 2017, the Jubilee party garnered 13 per cent in presidential votes while the by-election Mariga got 27 per cent of votes cast.

Pockets of violence were reported on Thursday amidst voter bribery.

However, the voting exercise ended well, with both Jubilee and ODM satisfied with the manner IEBC conducted the by-election.
