Vocal media personality Janet Mbugua has finally released her first book which marks the celebration of the National Period Day.
Mbugua is one of the celebrities who has been actively linked to Menstrual hygiene advocacy with a strong involvement in addressing societal issues.
The book titled My First Time’, brings together memorable stories from people talking on how men and women have created so much stigma around – Periods.
According to Janet, she strongly hopes that this book will change lives and conversations around a topic which, from her interactions, is the most difficult to have.
Apart from keeping up the conversation, her book will also be a tool for influencing policy change which she believes is necessary.
She also added that her intention is for part of the profit to serve as a provision for Menstrual Health Campaign agendas.
“10% of proceeds will go to providing innovative solutions for access and information and solutions to addressing period poverty with the Menstrual Hygiene Management” she stated
This book authored by Janet Mbugua is a publication by one of Kenya’s best publishers; Longhorn.
My First Time’ marks a great milestone in her advocacy works and can be counted among her grand achievements.
Other celebrities who have also been key players in spearheading menstrual hygiene campaigns include King Kaka and Jahmby KoiKai.
