Despite spending millions in the transfer window to bring in new players, newly promoted Wazito Fc is still looking for its first Kenya Premier League win of the season. The team drew 1-1 with Nzoia Sugar matchday one before a barren draw with Western Stima on matchday 2.
The team is far from being a complete unit and might take a few more games before they completely jell together. The team made seven changes to the starting line up that played in the first match while playing against Stima on Saturday.
Speaking after the match, head coach Fred Ambani was quick to accept that the changes were disrupting the chemistry of the team.
”Today we have seen a bit of improvement because the team was better than against Nzoia. We will take time to completely jell but so far we have to remain positive and continue working hard,” Ambani told Opera News after the match.
The coach was however critical of his striking department after firing blanks against the Electricians.
” We are a bit short in the striking department. last time out Derrick Otanga started but it was Elvis Rupia who came to change the game. Today, it was the opposite with rupia starting and Otanga coming on later but we still feel like there is work to be done in the department. We missed a lot of chances. Personally, I feel we will get better as the players get more used to playing in the Kenya Premier League,” he explained.
Wazito FC’s next match is at home to the second most successful Kenyan team AFC Leopards on Saturday, September 21.
