Kenya rugby national women team’s opponents in the upcoming Africa Women’s Sevens tournament have been named. The championship will be staged in Tunisia between October 12 and 13.
According to a statement released on Kenya Rugby Union’s official website, the Lionesses, have been pooled in the top seed alongside West Africans Ghana and Senegal, and Botswana in Pool A.
The Felix Oloo-coached side are the Africa Women’s defending champions and are expected to play all their hearts out in a bid to maintain their coveted status. The showpiece will also serve as the African qualifying round for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
“Kenya are top seeds for the 2019 Africa Women’s Sevens on the 12th and 13th of October in Tunisia. The Lionesses will be out to not only defend the title they won last year but also seek a return to the Olympics after replacing South Africa as Africa’s representatives to the 2016 games in Rio following the Lady Blitzboke’s withdrawal,” the union statement read in parts.
