Just some few hours after the Jubilee Party announced that it would field a candidate for Kibra’s by-election, football star McDonald Mariga has joined the race.
in a letter doing rounds on social, which credible sources have confirmed to be authentic, the party has fronted five names wishing to vie for the seat on its ticket.
Apart from Mariga, others who have expressed interest include Morris Peter Kinyanjui, Mukinyingi Walter Trenk, Said Ibrahim and Doreen Nangame Khanga Wasike.
Jubilee’s announcements came as a surprise after speculations that the party would not field any candidate following an agreement with ODM, as a result of the handshake.
A week ago, Tuju had indicated that the party was still holding consultations and was soon going to make a pronouncement whether to field a candidate or not.
The race for the seat is expected to be used by ODM party leader Raila Odinga and his Jubilee bitter rival DP William Ruto to flex Muscles ahead of 2022 elections.
However, the letter has been questioned by some owing to the fact that Jubilee invited interested candidates to apply for the ticket on Monday.
