Termed as one of the best initiatives to have ever happened in Kenya, most Kenyans have already urged their County Assembly Representatives (MCAs) to pass Aukot’s initiative without a second thought.

In line with the resident’s directives, Nakuru County Assembly has invited  Aukot and his Executive Committee for engagement over the Punguza Mizigo bill in the county’s assembly.

The engagement which will be held on Wednesday 24th July at the Assembly starting from 10.30am is set to shed some more light on what the whole proposed referendum initiative entails. This, according to many analysts is a good move that will set the pace for other counties to engage Aukot before passing the bill.

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has asked Raila to support Punguza Mzingo Referendum.

“We welcome Punguza Mizigo initiative because the funds that were being directed to the many political positions will now be used in local development,” said Sang at a function.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has already endorsed it also terming it as the best since the county MCAs will have an opportunity to control most of the county’s money getting direct to the citizens.

MCAs have the greatest opportunity to stamp their authority by supporting ‘s Punguza Mzigo initiative. MCAs have been despised for far too long. They should approve it overwhelmingly to remind all&sundry that devolution&its institutions matter.Forward the baby to Senate. Tweeted Murkomen recently

Kericho county Assembly MCAs have also shown their support for the initiative and have promised to passed it once it gets to the county.

If passed by 24 counties out of the 47, the initiative is likely to go through a referendum for Kenyans to either approve or reject it. Most of the MPs led by Suba MP John Mbadi and Parliament Majority leader Aden Nduale have already rejected the initiative saying that Kenyans were not involved in its drafting.
