Kagame Cup: Mwana strikes at death as Bandari holds Mukura

Congolese striker Yema Mwana scored a late goal for Bandari as the Dockers played to a two-all draw against Rwanda’s Mukura Victory at Huye Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Having lost their opening game to Azam FC on Saturday, Mukura went into the game looking to get a win that would see them remain in contention for a place in the knock-out round.

They raided the Dockers from the onset with Martin Fabrice and Munir Abdul leading their forward line. Some good saves from Bandari keeper Farouk Shikalo ensured that the hosts didn’t get an early goal that they were looking for.

Against the run of play, Bandari took the lead. A beautiful delivery from former Zoo midfielder Collins Agade was met with a powerful header from experinced Bandari winger, Shaban Kenga.

At the other end, Shikalo denied Abdul Munir moments later. The attacker pulled trigger from close range but the Kenyan international was equal to the task parrying the ball to safety. The Dockers took a slim lead to the break.

Mukura got to a dream second half start when Nyirinkindi Saleh equalized in the 46th minute with a long-range shot. They continued raiding the Dockers in search of a second but were severally denied by Bandari’s backline.

Bandari were reduced to long-range attempts in the game with Collins Agade, Yema Mwema and Wycliffe Ochomo all testing the Victory keeper.

Against the run of play, Mukura took the lead through Ntwali Evode. But as Mukura thought they had grabbed the three points, Mwana popped up with a late equalizer from close range.

Bandari have two points having drawn in their opener against KCCA. Their last game will be against holders Azam while Mukura will play KCCA.
