The Political atmosphere of Mt.Kenya Region is bubbling up each and every day. The different interest groups are rising, presenting the list of demands that are slowly dividing the region.
The Mt Kenya region is made up of Kiambu, Murang’a, Nyandarua, Nyeri and Embu county. The “Mtu Wetu Syndrome” has found its way in the region with Embu now demanding a get a share of the National cake.
The Embu Region, which is crying foul to have been supporting the entire ‘Uthamaki’ leadership has, endorsed The Speaker Of the National Assembly Justin Muturi for the top National Seat in 2022.
Former Runyenjes MP Cecily Mbarire has proposed Speaker Justin Muturi to be the Running Mate of Deputy President William Ruto in 2022.
Mbarire speaking during the past event stated that Embu Region has been backing other regions in Mt. Kenya and now it is their time.
“Kiti ya Pili ya Deputy President, tunataka mtu wetu kutoka uku embu ,Speaker JB Muturi awe Deputy President. Na tungetaka kuuliza wenzetu, our brothers kutoka Kiambu, Kutoka Murang’a, Kutoka Nyeri,Kutoka Nyandarua, tumewashikilia miaka mingi sana, raundi hii mtushikilie ata sisi,” Stated Cecily Mbarire.
Mbarire has also stated that the Embu region is in support of DP Ruto’s presidency.

It is not the first time that Speaker Muturi is being linked with a top seat in the country. Their has been many speculations on the region picking on him as the next kingpin.
Other top leaders from the region have expressed their interests for top leadership. Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria announced his Presidential bid and has been grooming himself to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru is also on the forefront to be DP Ruto’s running mate.
This will clearly divide the region which have always voted as a block.
However The Kikuyu Council of Elders held a meeting in Nyeri Yesterday. The main point of the meeting being, the region will not be divided by money from politicians.
“The Kikuyu vote will not be brokered for money by ‘tukunias’.
No one carries a vote for another so those ‘promising’ others the votes of the region, we know you; and you aren’t the first ‘tukunias’ in the history of the Kikuyu people,” Kikuyu Council of Elders stated.
