AU High Envoy for Infrastructure Raila Odinga has paid a courtesy visit to ailing Bomet governor Joyce Laboso in a London Hospital.
The ODM leader was accompanied by Kenya’s High Commissioner to the U.K Manoah Esipisu
Laboso took a one-month medical leave and was flown to the UK a week ago to seek out for specialized treatment after falling sick for a while.
Her team, however, failed to disclose the nature of her disease. The deputy governor, Hillary Bachok, has so far taken over operations at Bomet county for all the duration she will be away.

Kenyans were however not happy with the governor saying that the devolution money could have been utilized well to upgrade local hospitals which could have provided the much-needed treatment for the Bomet Governor.

“It’s so ironical for a county leader to seek treatment abroad yet she has resources to build a hospital in her county. But since everyone wants to eat the poor mwananchi is left to suffer. Anyway quick recovery” Tweeted Fred Chale.

This comes roughly months after Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o was rushed to hospital after falling sick during the installation ceremony of Reverend Philip Anyolo.
On January 12, Nyong’o was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Aga Khan Hospital. The governor has so far been discharged and is well carrying out his duties as Kisumu County governor.

Odinga is currently in London where he gave a lecture on the late Kofi Annan’s legacy at Chartam House.
Raila who arrived in the UK on Sunday was received by Kenya’s High Commissioner Manoah Esipisu, who served as State House spokesperson, prior to his appointment.
From London, the ODM Party leader will jet to Russia where with an invitation from the Government, he will attend an Economic Conference at St Petersburg.
The former Prime Minister will address sessions on global Energy Sector Challenges and Opportunities, the Russia-Africa Business Dialogue focusing on Investment and Trade and Building a Network of High-Quality Roads.
