Beauty beyond curve!Kenya joins Uganda in celebrating plus size ladies

Most of plus size ladies are victims of body shaming and discrimination, however, very few of them who have accepted themselves comes out strong.

Although there has been a resistance to recognize or even respect the curvy women, the fashion industry is trying to prove to the world that there is beauty beyond those curves.

 

 

 

 

The increase of plus size female model is something everyone should be proud of.

Recently, our neighbors Uganda held  Miss Curvy beauty pageant with the aim to promote self-esteem and reduce stigma,  surprisingly, over 200 plus-size models took up the challenge.

Now Kenya has followed suit and for the first time, Miss Curvy beauty pageant will be held at Isinya Kajiando County this coming weekend at Club Target Isinya.

The movement toward body equality and body positivity in the media and fashion industry is slowly starting to advance, but the next step is for us to uncover why we feel the need to use the term “plus-size” and how this label is affecting curvy women.
