The father-son relationship can be complex. Fathers and sons with widely different interests can find it hard to relate to one another. Sometimes dads and sons feel competitive against one another. Sometimes their male tendencies to not communicate feelings are compounded as both want a better father-son relationship but neither one quite knows how to go about it.
Bonding between father and son is not as easy as people may see it. It requires a lot of things such as; spending time together, acting as a role model or even being there whenever needed, for the bonding to work out perfectly.
Here are some tips on how fathers can bond better with their sons;
1. Listen to your son
For most adults, they tend to forget how being a kid is stressful, where they are not always willing to lend their sons their ears.
In order to bond well with your son, one needs to be ready to offer his ears to their sons no matter how stressful they can be sometimes.
2. Give him time
It is so unfair for a dad to expect the impossible from their sons. It is always good to give your son time to prove their capability when it comes to what they can do.
3. Be positive
Another perfect way for strengthening father and son bonding is by the dad being positive about the son. The cursing of the sons each time will only destroy the bonding between the two of you.
4. Teach him to be a man
Fortunately, when it comes to who is supposed to teach their sons on how to be great men is dads. Hence, for the bonding to grow stronger, dads should be ready to teach their sons on how they can become better men.
5. Go out together
Spending time together by going out is another factor. For one to have a great relationship with their sons, they must ensure that they’ve spent much time together.
Whatever your faith tradition, help your son understand the deeper meaning of life. If you don’t have a faith tradition, help him reach for his inner self and try to have a perspective that will help him look at things deeper than on the surface.
