10-year-old artist Sheilah Sheldon has been gifted by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko after making a portrait of him and presenting it to him in his office.
The talented artist won the Governor’s heart by her exceptional talent and skill and dedication to make the most out of it.
Sheila Sheldon yesterday visited Sonko’s office and was handed a paycheck of 100,000 Kenyan Shillings for her portrait.
The Nairobi Governor says that he was so pleased to meet the 10 year old and encouraged people to support such artistry to help them earn a living from it.
”The principles of true art is not to portray, but to evoke. I was so pleased to meet Sheilah Sheldon, a 10-year-old from Mombasa County when she passed by the office to drop me this amazing portrait drawing of me.” he wrote in his post
Sonko also emphasized that the idea of supporting such talent is not just to promote their work but also enable artists to grow knowing that artistry like any other career pays.
Sheila Sheldon says that getting the opportunity to deliver the portrait to the governor was indeed a dream come true.
The Nairobi Governor encouraged her to focus on her studies at the moment for it will propel her even more in her future endeavors.
