Portland Hospital where new parents are offered a ‘celebration meal’ complete with a menu that boasts lobster, oysters, foie gras, champagne and afternoon tea options– all served on silver platters.
This is in a bid for the parents to celebrate the safe delivery of their child.
The private hospital in central London childbirth packages starts from Ksh. 1.5M (£15,000) and can cost up to Ksh. 2M (£20,000).
Other famous mothers who have had their babies there include footballer David Beckham’s wife, Victoria Beckham.
Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York also gave birth to Princess Eugenie and Beatrice there.
Staff offer 24-hour room service in their lavish labour suites, which come complete with Molton Brown toiletries and four-poster cots.
Extended stays at The Portland can rack up bills of Ksh. 180,000 £1,800 a night at the Hospital where Meghan and Harry were rushed after her hopes of home birth were dashed.
New mothers are handed luxury ‘goodie bags’ when they leave The Portland.
According to a local media, these goodies include an invitation to a professional mother and baby photo shoot, more champagne and luxury toys.
There are reported to be 50 full-time midwives and nursery nurses on duty at all times, happy to change nappies and ‘check in’ on newborns while their exhausted parents try to get some sleep.
Babies are treated to Ksh. 350,000 £3,500 Moses baskets designed by luxury furniture brand Dragons of Walton Street, as well as Ksh. 1.4M £14,000 four-poster Little Duchess cot.
It is not known whether Meghan was induced but sources say she remained there overnight before her baby was born at 5.26am on Monday morning, with an elated Prince Harry at her side.
