Gone just like that! Why Manchester United will not be signing Jodan Sancho

Manchester United will soon start to experience and feel the full force of missing to qualify for the Champions League which includes failure to sign quality players

The Red Devils failure to qualify for the Champions League has put a big dent in their hopes of landing quality players who were in their target basket key of them being Jadon Sancho.

United had made Borussia Dortmund and England starlet Sancho their top target for the problem right wing position they are keen to fill this summer.

Dortmund is determined to hold on to Sancho, who they signed from Manchester City in August 2017 and have under contract until 2022.

But the Old Trafford giants were ready to test their resolve and pay a club record fee to try and lure the £100m-rated 19-year-old back to Manchester from Germany.

Sancho was open to the idea of making the move too but United’s chances of landing the exciting winger are now rated as ‘doubtful’ after missing out on a top-four finish following Sunday’s draw at already-relegated Huddersfield.

The chance to play first-team football and develop by playing at the highest level was the big motivating factor behind Sancho’s decision to turn down a contract and leave City two years ago.

He will get that opportunity to play in the Champions League again with Dortmund next season but that is no longer a possibility at United who will be in the Europa League.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been confident that United would be able to make major signings if they missed out on the Champions League.

But, as a result of not qualifying for Europe’s top competition, they are facing a setback over Sancho who has scored 12 goals and racked up 19 assists in 41 Dortmund appearances this season.

He has also broken into the England senior setup this season, winning four caps for Gareth Southgate’s side.

Many players like transferring to clubs that are playing or have qualified to play in the Champions League just because of the weight it carries which is going to have adverse effects on United who are performing dismally in the League and likely to finish at position six.
