This dating app is making sure you find the right date

Ever showed up for a first date and the person you swiped right on doesn’t quite measure up to their appearance in real life? Whenever anyone posts photos to their online profile, they put their best foot forward. These photos can be filtered, edited, and staged to depict their persona in the most perfect light.

But we know in person, things get a little messier. You can hide behind photos but not behind the human eye. New app, Spottle, is looking to take the guessing game out of online dating by allowing people to video call their prospects before they meet up.

It’s so easy to craft a clever bio or use your friends to come up with clever responses [on most dating apps]. Then you actually sit face to face with someone and realize there’s no chemistry.

The app won’t allow you to mindlessly chat with people all day, users have to sign on to the app at 9:00 pm on Thursdays or Saturdays only to “spin the bottle.”

You will be randomly matched with someone, get to chat for 30 seconds, and if you like the other person you can send each other a digital kiss which allows you to message and view each other’s profiles. You aren’t stuck with the same person if you don’t like them.
