The curtains have finally fallen on Former Sports CS Hassan Wario. After Months of Speculations, President Uhuru Kenyatta has finally cracked the Whip on Wario and sacked him as High Commissioner to Austria.
Kenya’s former Ambassador to the USA, Njeru Githae has been appointed to take his place.
The dark cloud of the Rio olympics shawdowed Wario’s tenure as High Commissioner.
Wario was charged with corruption during his tenure as Cabinet secretary for Sports, Arts and Culture from 2013 to 2018.
Director of Public Prosecutions Nurdin Haji recommended Mr Wario’s prosecution for allegedly misappropriating funds meant for 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
