Raila seals the deal, walks out of China with infrastructure packages

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has on his diplomatic expedition to China announced the reaching of an agreement with various parties towards infrastructural development.

Odinga, who is also the African Union High Commissioner for Infrastructural Development said that he was able to witness the signing of an MOU between the UN-Habitat and the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization(Geidco).

“I urge Africa to look at infrastructure as a whole from Energy, Rail, Road and Marine transport as well as fibre optics,” he said.

This is as the former presidential candidate’s visit to China, which happened simultaneously with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit to the same country has been under harsh criticism, poised to be yet another diplomatic venture that is set to indebt Kenya more.

Political critic Miguna Miguna alleged that President Kenyatta and Raila used the Sh 150 million to book 7-star hotels, spoil themselves on alcohol and exotic meals in order to sell avocados.

“The Shs. 150 million Uhuru Kenyatta and @RailaOdinga used to travel to China, book 7-star hotels, spoil themselves on alcohol and exotic meals in order to SELL AVOCADOS was more than enough to pay 2,000 nurses for 166 years or create 10,000 jobs for the youth,” he posted.
