Miguna urges Kenyans to boycott housing levy

The self-proclaimed leader of National Resistance Movement Miguna Miguna has come out lashing at the government over the housing levy that is meant to be implemented.

While taking to his Twitter account Miguna said, “Kenyans should mobilize around #NoTaxesWithoutServices and resist Uhuru Kenyatta’s 1.5% new looting tax. No one should pay taxes to a regime that plunders our resources, perpetuates impunity, steals elections, disobeys court orders and subverts the constitution. #ResistHousingTax”

His statement come after the Housing ministry and the Kenya Revenue Authority announced that the housing fund levy had been effected meaning that every employed Kenyan must remit 1.5 percent of his or her basic salary to the National Housing Development Fund.

However Kenyans disagreed quoting Article 25 of the Act which states that anyone who misappropriates the housing fund will be liable to imprisonment for two years or be made to pay a fine not exceeding Sh10,000 or both.
