Unai Emery’s Arsenal have one foot in the semi finals of the Europa League after a comfortable 2-0 home victory in the quarter finals. An impressive Arsenal performance was capped off by goals from midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Lucas Torreira. The Gunners were so god good on the night such that the only negative was they did not win by more goals. Below are 3 players who were vital for the Gunners against Napoli.
What a Player! After being on the sidelines in past few weeks, the little Uruguayan was at his best against the Italians and was duly rewarded with a goal. Torreira was everywhere in this match snapping into tackles while giving the Napoli players no breathing space.
Arsenal’s dominance was as a result of Torreira working his socks off for the team.
The Arsenal captain delivered yet another vintage performance to help the Gunners keep a clean-sheet. Alongside Sokratis and Nacho Monreal, he was superb all night and restricted the visitors to only a few half chances though none were his fault.
At 33 years of age, his experience will be vital for the Gunners success and he showed his class against Napoli.
Laurent Koscielny has been Arsenal’s best defender over the past 10 years and he continues to prove it even at this sunset stage of his career.
It is hard and sad to think that the Welsh midfielder will leave Arsenal for free this summer. Ramsey opened the scoring with a cushioned finish but hi overall play was also brilliant. He controlled the game from midfield and protected his defenders whenever he was asked to. He was guilty of missing a glorious chance but I guess Arsenal fans will forgive him after such an impressive performance.
