Mimi Mars reveals how she was pushed to study law

Vanessa Mdee younger sister Marianne Mdee better known as Mimi Mar is currently taking music industry by storm.

However , Mimi Mars has revealed how her parents pushed her to study law.

“I did law before venturing into music because it was my parents choice and I wanted to make them happy,” Mimi said.

Two years ago, she made a decision to completely venture into the music industry. She already has five songs and has released an EP.

“The journey has been amazing and I keep learning every day despite the challenges here and there, but they keep building me,” she said.

As a young girl Mimi, together with her sisters Vanessa Mdee and Tero, sang in the church choir. But it was in 2010 when she realised she could actually sing after she recorded and heard her own voice.

Mimi, who started out as a YouTube personality has over the years worked to establish herself as a TV host, Mcee and singer. Her music has been smashing the charts in East Africa, with tracks like “Kodoo”, “Shuga” and “Papara” slowly becoming singalongs for lovers of Bongo Flava.

Mimi is signed on to Tanzanian label Mdee Music run by East Africa’s first lady of pop Vanessa Mdee, who also happens to be her sister. Getting onto the music scene as part of a musical family has solidified Mimi’s brand.

Another one of her sisters, Nancy Hebron aka Tero Mdee, is a former TV personality in Kenya turned gospel singer.

Mimi Mars was born in Paris, France on 21 June 1992. She grew up in Arusha, Tanzania and attended Arusha Modern School and St. Catherine’s Mountain View in Nairobi. In 2018, the three collaborated for the first time on the song “Beautiful Jesus”.

The fast-rising artist who started her music career in 2017, was part of Coke Studio Africa 2019 as a Big break artiste.
