Moses Kuria fires shots at Baba for embarrassing defeat

Moses Kuria asks Raila to be his running mate after ODM's humiliation in Embakasi South, Ugenya by-elections

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has sarcastically asked Opposition leader Raila Odinga to support his 2022 presidential bid. This is after Raila’s Orange Democratic Movement party was whitewashed in Ugenya and Embakasi South by-elections on Friday, April 5.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, April 6, the vocal MP sent ‘condolences’ to the ODM leader following the loss which has exposed the party’s fading popularity. Kuria literally condoled the Opposition leader for losing in his stronghold to a little known party and in Nairobi.

Irshad Sumra the ODM candidate in Embakasi South by-election conceded defeat to Wiper’s Julius Mawathe while Raila’s Ugenya constituency candidate Christopher Karan was beaten by David Ochieng of Movement for Democracy Growth.

“I send my condolences to Baba for losing both at home in Ugenya and away in Embakasi South. From the foregoing it is clear that 2022 is an outright two horse dead heat between William Ruto and myself. I seek your support Baba,” Kuria said.

Kuria who enjoys a lukewarm relationship with the Opposition leader having been his fiercest critic towards the 2017 General Election but warmed up to him after the Friday, March 9, 2018 handshake.

The second time Gatundu MP made public his ambition to vie for presidency in 2022 during an interview with local media station on Monday, October 22, 2018. He even dispelled claims that he would support Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid in 2022, saying he would back himself up.
