Museveni To Make History on the SGR as He Basks in Glory After Being Honoured by Uhuru

The Standard Gauge Railway remains one of Jubilee Government’s flagship projects and despite the fact that the project has faced a number of criticisms, it’s importance to the Kenyan People cannot be overlooked.

When President Kenyatta will finally leave power, he will sit down and say that, “Yes, i have left power but i gave you people a Standard Guage Railway that has helped transform your lives in different ways.”

As the Construction of the Rail continues, Uganda head of state Yoweri Museveni will be the first foreign head of state to use the standard gauge railway (SGR) from Mombasa to Nairobi

“I also gladly look forward to using the train on the Standard Gauge Railway from Mombasa to Nairobi tomorrow. It should take me only four hours on a journey of over 480kms. Apparently, I will be the first visiting head of state to use this facility. I am honoured,” Said Museveni.

Museveni is in the country for talks on bilateral trade with his Kenyan counterpart Uhuru.

The two presidents discussed the extension of the SGR to the Ugandan border, Migingo island among other things.

Museveni said that the railway service and the oil pipeline will further ease the transportation of goods to Uganda.

On his part, President Kenyatta has said the Kenya and Uganda have agreed to form a border commission that will look into how the contentious island of Migingo will be managed for the benefit of both countries.
