‘You’re reading the Constitution Upside Down!’ Brutal Kenyans troll James Orengo over Ruto’s impeachment

James Orengo is one of the most celebrated lawyers here in Kenya. Nobody understands this constitution like the Senior Counsel. That is why he is called the Walking Constitution.

But some Kenyans are now wondering whether Orengo has started reading the constitution upside down. This is after the Siaya Senator said that he will institute an impeachment motion against DP William Ruto.

On Sunday, during a rally in Ugenya, he said the country cannot move forward with a Deputy President who is at the centre, any time a corruption case is mentioned. What was Orengo smoking?

And his words were echoed by the headless ODM SG Edwin Sifuna, who said that the party already have DP Ruto’s file ready for the impeachment motion. It should be noted here that Sifuna has never won an election.

Orengo is a senior lawyer and a respected Senator. But he should stop mentioning Ruto’s name in every forum.

I think Orengo are the the people who when they sleep they only dream about Ruto nothing else even people who voted for him he doesn’t think of them,,you keep fighting William not thinking that you building him to 2022,,,— Shadrack (@Shadrac20282010) March 25, 2019

Ama he was just trying to whip emotions to Raila loyalists in Nyanza.

Orengo is just whipping up emotions and playing politics. That impeachment motion will never see the light of day on the floor of the house leave alone come into fruition. Victory or defeat will never be based on principles, loyalty n party affiliation but to the highest bidder.— Tijey (@Tijey5) March 25, 2019

But what if he was really serious and went ahead with the impeachment. Can it happen?

Chapter 9, Article150
(1) The DP may be removed from office
(b) on impeachment
(i) on the ground of a gross violation of a provision of this Constitution or any other law
(ii) where there are serious reasons to believe that the DP has committed a crime under national or intl law— Newroh One (@Newroh1) March 25, 2019

The problem is that there is no evidence linking Ruto to the corruption scandals. He has not been charged in any court. EACC and DCI have never summoned him. So on what basis will Orengo impeach him?

Recently, ODM and their party leader Raila Odinga have been pushing the anti Ruto agenda in the name of fighting corruption. But why has Raila and Orengo never spoken about the JKIA takeover?

I just think Orengo and ODM are underestimating Ruto. We hope these comments remain just comments. He should not embarrass himself.
