Its a do or die for DP Ruto

Deputy President William Ruto has been cautioned trade carefully on the ongoing war on graft to achieve his 2022 presidential bid.

Political analyst Ambrose Weda on Wednesday said that Ruto is now risking losing President Uhuru Kenyatta’s backing judging by the hostility growing between their camps which might make it hard for him to sail through.

This, he said with regards to the ongoing war of words between Uhuru and Ruto’s allies who have accused Uhuru of using state machinery to harass Ruto in the name of fighting graft.

“If Ruto continues fighting Uhuru and the war on corruption it might lead to Uhuru fighting back which might grow into enmity and ultimately kill their union,” he said.

Weda was speaking on KBC English Service’s The Big Conversation Show on Wednesday morning.

The High Court Advocate said that the ongoing war of words might with time grow into a terrible fight which could lay more hidden secrets in the government bare.

“These people know each other inside out and if it gets to that point then they might resort to exposing each other and it’s very likely that each party has something to hide,” he added.

Uhuru on Tuesday fired back at Kapseret lawmaker and Ruto’s ally who on Saturday claimed that he has a hand in the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) takeover.

Ruto’s allies have over the last one week been crying foul in his implication in each and every major scandal and are now terming it a plot by the President.

But Weda notes that this might anger the President leading to him retaliating by disowning Ruto’s plans to succeed him.
