Investigations launched into why police are killing each other

Police have launched investigations into the killings of police by what is suspected to be their colleagues in Vihiga County.

This comes after the killings of five security guards in Kilingili area, on the border of Vhiga and Kakamega Counties.

It emerged that the five elderly night guards may have been targeted by a group of younger guards.

Linus Anyiga (74), Thomas Minao (70), Francis Osayo (48), John Ondachi (63) and Charles Kalume (60), were hacked to death.

Family members to one of the victims- Thomas Minao- said the vitim had told them that a guard was threatening to kill him three weeks before the incident.

“Our father told us there was a night guard in the market who was threatening him at his work station three weeks before he finally met his death,” Stephen Mboya said.

“Before he died, he told us that in case anything happened to him, we should not look further than where the young man, who has been threatening him is,” he added.

Western region Police Commander Rashid Yakub said they were investigating officers, even as all the officers at Kilingili Police Station have been transferred.
