Janet Mbugua Weighs in on Akothee’s saga

It now a week since a morality debate kicked on concerning Controversial musician Akothee’s performance last weekend in Malindi.

Many called her out claiming that she was setting a bad example to the youth.

Media personality Janet Mbugua is now the latest female public figure to defend singer Akothee.

Akothee’s supporters also came out to defend her and Nairobi Women’s Rep Esther Passaris told off those crucifying the singer for ‘doing her job’.

Janet Mbugua also supported Akothee and in her message, she spoke against sexists. Her message read:

“He’s arrogant. And he’s sexist. @Akotheekenya you’ve stirred up a great debate and discussion about this whole ‘morality’ thing and many of us are with you”.

Janet’s remarks were echoed by veteran politician Martha Karua also shared her sentiments on the same saying that nobody is forced to watch, these are adult shows by an entertainer.

Political analyst Nerima Wako also shared her sentiments on the ongoing ‘morality’ debate and her message read:

“The amount of bullying women receive online, I have garnered so much respect for them. Especially those who continue to do what they do. Blamed for marriages, blamed for not being role models & not allowed to be in leadership. Live your life! Let sheep talk you beautiful lioness!”

Other celebrities who’ve publicly defended Akothee include Maina Kageni, Caroline Mutoko, and Johnstone Letoya.
