This is the reason behind Robert Chesang’s death

Lawyer Robert Chesang who was shot dead at his home, Lukenya, Machakos County is said to have been in a unstable marriage with his wife Maisy Pauline Omungala who is a magistrate. This could be a possible reason for his death. The two had earlier accused each other of domestic violence and the case heard before Mavoko Law Courts and High Court in Machakos.

Pauline had iniatially sought restraining order from her husband whom she accused of being violent. Chesang later sued his wife and several senior police officers in Athi River including the OCPD, the OCS and the deputy OCPD, accusing them of harassing him.

The matter was heard before magistrate Charity Oluoch who heard the matter but disqualified herself a week to the judgement. A second magistrate disqualified herself from hearing a matter involving her colleague. The matter was then taken before High Court judge George Odunga who dismissed it saying it was between Chesang and his wife Pauline.

The developments emerged even as detectives indicated that they were looking at a business angle to the murder of the lawyer said to have handled numerous land matters.

Chesang is said to have been living in fear as when the officers arrived at his home, he just peeped through the window through which he had been shot.
