NTSA Permanently Revokes Licence of Truck Driver of Deadly Chepsir Crash

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has ruled to permanently revoke the driving licence of a truck driver that was at the center of the tragic accident that claimed 8 lives in the Nakuru-Kericho Highway.

As per the statement released by NTSA director Francis Meja on Monday, the driver, Mr Abdulle Ali Mohammed was considered a danger to all road users and hence, should never be allowed on Kenyan roads again.

Indeed, after further investigations last week, NTSA discovered that the driver was actually driving on the wrong lane.

According to director Meja, preliminary investigations have shown that the cause of the crash was as a result of the driver descending on the climbing lane while facing incoming traffic, without the consideration of oncoming traffic.

Meja defended his decision, stating that it is aimed at ensuring other road users stay safe.

Additionally, the NTSA authorities have also summoned officials tied to the Green Line Bus Company after another accident took the lives of 9 individuals.

The officials are expected to appear in court on February 20, 2019.
