In the wake of last month’s brutal terror attack at Dusitd2 hotel, Kenyans have become vigilant about their surrounding. The attack which was orchestrated by Somali based Al Shabaab terrorists led to the death of 21 innocent people and several more were injured.

There was tension on Wednesday after rumors started circulating on social media that there was heavy security presence at the Sarit Centre Shopping mall.

Sarit is in Westlands, a walking distance from 14 Riverside Drive where the Dusit Attack happened and a stone throw away from the Westgate mall in which 67 people were killed in 2013.

This makes it a prime target for terrorists, and the reports on Wednesday send shock waves across the country.

The shopping complex has however dismissed the alert that there was heavy police presence around the area hence people should avoid it. The Complex stated that the circulating messages were mere rumours and city shoppers are welcome to shop.

The Centre also noted that the posts were meant to spread fear and that Kenyans should treat the allegations as rumours.
