2 men arrested for transporting Bhang worth 4.5 million using fuel tanker

Two men have been arrested by Police Officers in Kahawa Sukari, Kiambu County in possession of Bhang worth 4.5 million.

The two suspects were arrested on Monday, February 11, after they were caught offloading the illegal consignment hidden in a fuel tanker.

Kiambu county commander, Adiel Nyange, confirmed the arrest saying

the police were alerted by the residents of Kahawa Sukari after they saw the suspects offloading suspicious items.

β€œThe two will be taken to court tomorrow (Tuesday) as we investigate where they were transporting the bhang from,” said Nyange.

One of the suspects has reportedly been on the police watch list for sometime.

The authorities believe he would provide crucial lead in the search for other drug cartels operating within Nairobi city.

Recently, three other men were caught transporting drugs to the Coast.

The suspects who were in a Toyota Corolla declined to stop when they were flagged down by the law enforcers, prompting the police to pursue them for about four kilometres.

Once they realised the situation was turning into a police chase, the three suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police recovered 6,180 rolls of the bhang with a street value of about KSh 3.1 million.
