Have you tried going through your old Facebook texts and you feel embarrassed? Or, you’ve just sent someone the wrong text on Facebook and now you’re having a heart attack.
Just Breathe easy. Just like the WhatsApp message delete feature and the Gmail unsent feature , now Facebook lets you delete messages you sent by mistake.
Now, Facebook is making the ability to trash embarrassing or inappropriate Messenger texts available to all users worldwide, although you can only delete a message within 10 minutes of sending it. The feature started rolling out on Wednesday with week, the company announced. In April 2018, after the revelation of Zuckerberg’s deleted messages, Facebook claimed it planned to launch an “unsend” feature for Messenger in the “next several months.”To use the feature, Facebook Messenger users tap on the message they want to remove and select the option to “Remove for Everyone.” The removed message will be replaced by text alerting everyone in the conversation the message was removed. Users will have up to 10 minutes to remove a message after it is sent.
If you want to remove a message just for yourself, you can still do that by selecting “Remove for You.” When you choose this option, the message will be removed for you, but not for anybody else in the Messenger chat, just like WhatsApp.
To use the feature, Facebook Messenger users will have to follow the below steps:
- Long-press on a message sent within the last 10 minutes.
- Along the bottom of the screen will be a new Remove option; select it.
- A prompt will ask if you want to Remove for everyone or Remove for you. The latter option only removes the message in your view of the conversation, whereas Remove for everyone will remove the message from the conversation for all recipients.
- A placeholder message will let the recipients of the original message know you removed a message in place of where the message originally appeared.
