Mashemeji derby, a do or die game for Ingwee

As the clock continues to tick towards the much anticipated clash  between AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia at Moi international Sports Centre Kasarani, pressure continues to mount on Leopards who have been posting dismal performances in their recent matches.

While Gor Mahia are on good form particularly after trouncing Egyptian giants El Zamalek 4-2 in the ongoing African Championship tournament, Igwee are limping in performance and have already lost three consecutive matches of the league. This has seen them trail at the tail end of the table with only two points off the relegation spot.

Leopards new coach Cassa Mbungo will also be under pressure to prove a point particularly after witnessing his team go down 2-1 to Mount Kenya FC in his first match as the club’s coach.

Ingwee’s team captain Robinson Kamura will also be out to do whatever it takes to ensure that his team does not disappoint fans again. Kamura was held captive by aggrieved Leopards fans who put him to task to explain why the club has been on the losing spree in the recent past.  This was after being hammered by Mount Kenya FC, he will definitely do everything today to avoid a similar confrontation from fans.

Nothing humiliates fans and players like losing a derby clash and that is why despite Ingwee being out of form, Gor Mahia should expect a tough encounter this afternoon since it will be a do or die game for their opponent. Igwee will not only be battling to find its winning ways but will also be out to avoid the slip up of sinking into the relegation zone
