The body of an Administration Officer is lying in a morgue at the Nyeri County Refferal Hospital after he died controversially on Tuesday.
Festus Mutuku, an AP inspector who works in West Pokot collapsed and died on the spot at a bar in Nyaribo, Nyeri County. According to details, the deceased, who was a frequent visitor to the joint, had visited his wife who lives and works in the area.
Witnesses say he was drinking an alcoholic drink known as V&A, which is suspected to have been substandard.
Barton Kagathi who runs a butcher business next to the bar said the deceased had ordered for a quarter kilogramme of liver meat before the unfortunate incident. Efforts by the residents to rush him to Nyaribu dispensary did not yield much as he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A postmotem will be conducted to ascertain the cause of his death.
