Rongo MP Paul Abuor has vowed to help end the feud between governor Okoth Obado and senator Ochillo Ayacko after his initial attempts to bring the two together proved futile.
Abuor said he will use his position as the chairperson of Migori county parliamentary group to push through the handshake to help bring development and cool down political temperatures.
“I will use my position as the chair of legislators in Migori to ensure Obado and Ayacko push through a handshake like the one we see nationally,” Abuor said.
On July 9 during the burial of former senator Ben Okello, Abuor called on ODM leader Raila Odinga to initiate a handshake between the two political nemeses which happened in public but was short lived.
“We know unity between the two will help legislators and MCAs to live in harmony as 2022 politics is way too far,” he said.
Awendo MP Walter Owino supported the move saying there is no political vacancy for any seat in Migori.
Obado welcomed the move by the two legislators insisting he was a champion of handshake in the county.
“I am the one who started the handshake initiative in Migori and I will not refuse to have the same. Abuor I will support you,” Obado said.
The three were speaking on Friday during the launch of Sh517m World Bank infrastructure project.
But Ayacko on Thursday during a live talk show interview in Mayienga FM said what happened during the burial of Okello was a mere greeting.
“What happened is like I walking in a meeting and greeting you, there was no handshake,” Ayacko said.
He complained that his supporters have been denied jobs, business opportunities, bursaries and even market stalls for supporting him.
