Death toll in the matatu crash at HZ along the Eldoret-Eldama Ravine Road has hit 11 with 5 Chiefs also reported to be among those that lost their lives.
Witnesses said the driver of the matatu heading to Ravine lost control of the vehicle and it rolled several times.
The chiefs were returning to their homes after attending a meeting in Iten town.
Seven of the victims died at the scene while three others including two sub-chiefs died of their injuries on their way to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
Six other people are admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
Police reports indicate the vehicle rolled on a steep section of the road that is in bad shape due to potholes.
