The looming expulsion of Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa alongside her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori has continued to draw mixed reactions from different political quarters with a section supporting ODM’s move while another section reads political witch hunt in all the happenings.

Msambweni MP Sulieman Dori has now made it clear that the reason he is being harassed by ODM is because the has been dancing to William Ruto’s Tanga Tanga tune better than anyone else.

Dori has vowed to use all legal mechanisms to defend himself.

Mr Dori also asked his fellow legislators from the Coast to support him.“I won’t stop working with the national government for the sake of my constituents,” said Dori.

He also blamed Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, who supported him in the 2017 parliamentary race, of being behind his woes.Dori and Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa have been recommended for expulsion from ODM for gross misconduct.

They have been accused of insulting party leader Raila Odinga and defying warnings not to campaign for Mr Ruto’s presidential bid.Ms Jumwa has also blamed Joho for her troubles. Local rivals have told the MPs to resign and seek re-election on a Jubilee ticket.

The fate of the two ODM rebel MPs now lies with the party’s National Governing Council.

ODM disciplinary committee had last year recommended for expulsion from the party, MPs Aisha Jumwa (Malindi) and Suleiman Dori (Msambweni) for failing to tow party line.

The committee chaired by lawyer Fred Athuok also recommended expulsion from the party six Homa bay MCAs for allegedly causing disruption at the Homa bay county assembly.

Similar attempts to kick out of the party rebel members have failed in the past because such moves always come close to the elections and were also frustrated by legal suits.

But with almost three and half years to the next general election, there is ample time for the party to exhaust all the legal channels putting the duo at high risk of losing their seats.
